For authors:

We're pleased to now offer two publishing paths for authors! Take a look below and choose whichever option best works for you. We can't wait to see your submission!
  • Traditional Program

This program is for agented authors who want a traditional publishing experience with an advance and standard royalties. Spots on our traditional list are limited each season, and we generally acquire titles for several years out. Some of our traditional authors include Jane Yolen, Suzanne Slade, Rob Sanders, Keyshawn Johnson, and many others!

  • Jumpshot Program

Jumpshot is our author-supported program, where authors open more publishing opportunities through supporting part of the publishing costs. Jumpshot authors initially earn 75% royalties to help them recoup the up-front fee before switching to more a traditional royalty structure.

What we're looking for

Bushel & Peck Books is a thoughtful, family-run press that's passionate about creating extraordinary books for extraordinary kids. We publish a diverse range of children's literature, including board books, picture books, and chapter books across both fiction and nonfiction genres. At this time, Bushel & Peck is not acquiring standalone middle grade titles or author-initiated series.

We're always on the lookout for stories that:

Spark Curiosity

We seek manuscripts that ignite a sense of wonder and invite young readers to explore the world around them.

Engage and Inspire

We love stories that are original, imaginative, and beautifully crafted, with writing and illustrations that captivate and delight.

Explore Big Ideas

We're drawn to books that tackle important themes, encourage critical thinking, and offer fresh perspectives.

Reflect the World

We strive to publish books that represent diverse voices and experiences, and that celebrate the richness of human connection.

Leave a Lasting Impression

We believe in the power of stories to uplift, empower, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young readers.

Whether it's a heartwarming tale of friendship, a fascinating dive into science, or a thought-provoking exploration of faith, we're interested in books that foster a love of learning, promote empathy, and inspire kids to be their best selves.

If your manuscript aligns with our vision and has the potential to spark joy and wonder in children, we encourage you to submit it for our consideration.
